This was our first venture into songwriting and recording and releasing the songs we thought best. It’s a funny thing songwriting because so often it can look like you’re just staring out of the window when in fact you’re tearing out your very soul in order to create a piece of art that people will instinctively respond to. Okay, well maybe sometimes it is just staring out of the window and some early attempts had to be discarded. For example, the smouldering sensuality of Kevin’s, “The Fruit Pie of Love” was not recognised by the rest of the band who immediately (and unanimously) rejected it. Many of the songs on this album have been played on radio stations in the UK, the USA, Australia and Africa as well as local stations in Derbyshire. As a result, The Amber Band has grown from being unknown in our own county to a position where we are now unknown throughout the world. So you can feel pretty exclusive as you listen to our songs and when we become the biggest band on the planet you can say, “Oh, The Amber Band – I’ve been listening to them for years”.
